County, California, J.N. 546-98, dated January 25, 1999.
In accordance with your request, Petra Geotechnical, Inc. (Petra) has reviewed the
above-referenced report to determine if concrete cast-in-place storm-drain pipe could
be used for control of storm runoff in North Plaza Drive. It is our understanding that
755 feet of 30-inch cast-in-place storm-drain pipe is proposed for the site to be
constructed within North Plaza Drive.
The project soil types generally consist of fill derived from alluvium, colluvium and
Pauba-Formation bedrock which underlies the site at depth. The soil materials are
generally well-graded sands and silty sands, which are generally low in expansion
potential and have a negligible soluble sulfate content. Groundwater is not expected
to be encountered at the proposed depths of the storm drain.
Maximum fill depths in North Plaza Drive range from 18 to 25 feet. Fill soils along
the alignment are founded on competent bedrock materials (Pauba Formation). The
storm-drain pipeline should be founded entirely within engineered fill materials.
