The pad was constructed on the north side of Avenida Del Reposo, along the top of the ridge and steep north-facing slope. The results of our Field Density Tests obtained during grading are tabulated in Table I, Results of Compaction Tests. The approximate locations of the tests are shown on the Plot Plan, Plate 1. The 20- scale Grading Plan was prepared by TEC Inc., Temecula, and dated November 11, 1993. Proiect Description The proposed development consists of constructing a ,building pad along the ridge top paralleling Avenida Del Reposo. Grading consisted of 7-8 foot cuts at 2:1 (horizontal to vertical) along the front or south side of the lot, and 17 foot high fills along the north at finished inclinations of 2:1 The fill required a keyway constructed at the location shown on Plate 1. In addition, the transition lot required overexcavation to a minimum of 3 feet from finished grade. -z-. QUAD BACHELOR MTN. 1953 (PR 1973) '7 94104-01 Page 3 Gradinq Contractor Grading and backfill operations were conducted Grading, Murrieta, under the superbvision of Mr. general engineering contractor. by Blackmore Ken Blackmore, Purpose of Gradinq The purpose of the grading was to prepare the site for the proposed construction of the one-story single family residence and driveway access. GRADING PROCEDURES Gradinq Procedures The area to receive fill was steeper than 5:1, so a fifteen foot wide key way was excavated at the toe of the fill slope. The keyway was founded in firm Pauba bedrock, then overexcavated 1 1/2 - 2 feet, moisture conditioned and level backfills placed to pad grade. Cut material from the south was placed as compacted fill. The fill materials were brought to near optimum moisture, and compacted with a D8 Caterpillar bulldozer. Water was provided with a 1.5 inch fire hose from a nearby fire hydrant. TESTING Field Densitv Testinq Field density testing was performed in accordance with ASTM D 1556 (Sand-Cone Method). The elevations and the results of the field densi ty tests are presented in Table I of this report. The approximate location of the tests are shown on the Plot Plan, Plate 1. Maximum Densitv Determinations Maximum density/optimum moisture determinations were made from representative samples of on-site soils used in the fill operations. The tests were performed in accordance with ASTM D 1557 which consist of compacting 5 equal layers of soil in a 1/30 cubic foot volume mold with 25 blows of a 10 pound hammer falling 18 inches. The results of the Maximum density/optimum determination are presented herein as Table II, Laboratory Test Results. ~ 94104-01 Page 4 SUMMARY Our description of grading and backfill operations, as well as observations and testing services, were limited to those grading operations performed between February 1 and February 3, 1994. The conclusions and recommendations contained herein have been based upon our observation and testing as noted. It is our opinion, that the work preformed in the areas denoted has generally been accomplished in accordance with U.B.C. Chapter 70 specifications, the referenced soil report, and the requirements of the regulating agencies. No conclusions or warranties are made for areas not tested or observed.
